The students at P. S./M. S. 183 Q are so excited about technology. We're going to be very busy creating projects during this school year . The students will be creating many projects including, iMovies, Podcasts, and ThinkQuests about educational topics. The students are also participating in the Doodle for Google contest to design a logo for Google.
What is a ThinkQuest? What is a WebQuest? ThinkQuest is a technology competition. Students form teams of two or more and work together to create an educational website on a topic of their choice. The students take on several roles like the writer, web designer, animator, graphic artist, musician, photographer, and videographer. ThinkQuest websites contain the information on the topic. Students do not visit external links or websites to learn about that topic. It's all there inside the ThinkQuest. It's a creative way to demonstrate learning and the website serves as a great learning tool for kids all around the world who want to learn more about that topic!
A WebQuest is a web project that is inquiry-based. It was developed by Bernie Dodge. The idea came from Bernie's desire to bring the World Wide Web into the classroom to enhance instruction. This can be a short term or a long term project. Students work in teams to come up with a topic and then create an online project based on that topic. The students plan out the web resources and list them on their WebQuests. The goal is for kids to interact with resources on the web to create a final or exit project.
